This drug is used alone or in combination with antacids for the short-term treatment of active duodenal ulcers, systemic mastocytosis, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome-related gastric acid hypersecretion, and other conditions that may pathologically elevate gastric acid levels. Additionally, it is used in short-term maintenance therapy for active benign gastric ulcers and low-dose maintenance therapy for stomach ulcers.
